Don't know what you want to do?

If you don't know what you want to "do", you are not alone.

Many students have no idea what to answer when asked this question. So whether you are in Year 7, Year 9 or even in Year 12, don't despair.

Here are some suggestions of things to do to help you decide what career path you want to follow:

Think of possible jobs or career areas which interest you

Think about where you see yourself in 5 years time or 10 years time?  Where are you and what are you doing?

Do you want to work indoors, outside, be your own boss, not have to make decisions, have a lot of responsibility, work with computers, work with your hands, work with people, work on your own? Are you creative?

Ask yourself what you're good at. Usually you will enjoy what you have the most talent in and where your strengths lie.

Would doing work experience help you make up your mind, especially if you are tossing up between two different careers?

Check out the Job Guide website for lots of suggestions.  It is based on the Job Guide book given to every student in Year 10

What are your answers to this table? Use them as a starting point
