Library hours
Open between 8.20 – 3.20. Closed at recess and open at lunch time
Borrowing books
Books can be borrowed for two weeks. You may also reserve books that are currently borrowed by another person.
Years 7-10: Students can borrow up to 5 items at once.
Years 11-12: Students can borrow up to 10 items at once.
You are responsible for all books borrowed in your name and so must pay for any lost or damaged books.
Returning books
Place your books in the slot in the middle of the front counter marked “Returned Books”.
Do NOT return books you have borrowed to any of the book trolleys. It will not be marked off as being returned and the Library will assume you still have the book.
Library overdues
Please return books or bring them in to re-borrow if you still need them after two weeks..
On a regular basis, lists of students with overdue library books will be given to your homeroom teacher. Please return books as soon as possible but if there is a problem, talk to one of the library staff about it.
Photocopying
The copier is for you to use during class visits to the library. If you need to copy information for homework or an assignment, please check with library staff first.
You must pay for any photocopying done for personal reasons. Please give the money to library staff.
Laminating Services
A laminating service is available in a range of sizes eg a wallet sized copy of your timetable or bus pass.
Computer facilities in the library
a) Library Catalogue:
Near the Seminar Rooms there are 9 computers that will help you see what books and other items are available in the library. You can look up by subjects, authors and titles. These computers have a sign on them that says "Library Catalogue".
b) Internet Computers
These computers have internet, Clickview and word processing. There are:
Some of the computer facilities in the Library.
There are consequences for unauthorised use of computer facilities in the library such as checking/sending emails or playing games without permission, use of chat rooms, messaging or looking up non-school related information.
This is outlined on the Internet Acceptable Use Policy signed by students and their parents/guardians.
Expectations of students
STUDY CLUB IN THE LIBRARY
Students are invited to come to the library from 3pm – 5pm on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons to do research, study, complete homework or seek assistance from staff. Several teachers will be in attendance and students will have to sign in and out of Study Club.
